Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using The Grammar Index™ ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service. The Service is provided by Alderstrom Limited, trading as The Grammar Index, a company registered in the United Kingdom (company number 10168380), referred to below as "we", "our" and "us".

2. Description of Service

The Grammar Index is a grammar reference application available as a web application, a Windows desktop application, and native mobile applications for Android and iOS. The Service provides grammar definitions, examples, and educational content.

3. Licence and Access

Free Tier

The free tier provides access to a limited selection of grammar entries without registration. No licence key is required.

Paid Tiers

Paid licences grant access to all grammar content. Upon purchase, you receive a licence key that can be activated on a limited number of devices as specified by your tier:

• Individual: 2 devices (1 seat)
• Team: 2 devices per seat (10 or 30 seats)
• Institution: 2 devices per seat (100, 500, or 1,000 seats)
• Gift / Sponsorship: 2 devices per seat (30, 500, or 10,000 seats)

Team, Institution and Gift / Sponsorship licences, and gift-card keys, must be registered to a named owner at grammarindex.com before they will activate. Registration is permanent and cannot be transferred. Individual licences activate immediately without this step. A licence key is not tied to one edition: any paid licence unlocks every edition of The Grammar Index.

4. Payment and Refunds

All purchases are one-time payments processed through Stripe. Prices are set in US dollars and shown in a choice of currencies on the pricing page; you are charged in the currency you select at checkout. Due to the digital nature of the product and instant delivery of licence keys, refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. If you are a consumer in the UK or EU, you normally have a 14-day right to cancel a purchase of digital content; at checkout you are asked to consent to your licence key being delivered immediately and to acknowledge that, once it is delivered, this right to cancel is lost. When a refund or chargeback is processed, the licence key is deactivated and any devices activated on it stop working at their next online check. 5. Licence Restrictions

You may not:

• Share, sell, transfer, or give your licence key to anyone else (see our Licence Policy)
• Attempt to circumvent device activation limits
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the application
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose

6. Intellectual Property

All content within The Grammar Index, including definitions, examples, design, and code, is the intellectual property of Alderstrom Limited. Your licence grants you a non-exclusive right to use the Service for personal or institutional educational purposes. The licence is non-transferable except by written arrangement with us (see our Licence Policy).

7. Availability

We strive to maintain the Service's availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Once activated, the Windows, Android, iOS and web editions all work offline. An internet connection is needed to activate a device, and the apps re-check the licence with our server periodically when a connection is available (see our Licence Policy).

8. Limitation of Liability

The Grammar Index is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be excluded by law, including your statutory rights as a consumer.

9. Termination

We reserve the right to deactivate licence keys that are found to be in violation of these terms. Lifetime licences remain valid as long as the terms are respected.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

11. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not affect your right to rely on the mandatory consumer-protection law of your home country or to bring a claim in its courts.
